So today 3rd friend of mine said No to warp because of the way our stats are displayed. Do we really need such weird and uncommon statting system and if we do, why? It is simply very hard for new people to get used to our stats and to even understand how the system works before they just give up on us and basically I dont think they will ever try again as they remember 'the mud with weird char stats'.
So I would like players opinions what they think of it and if its not too much asked an immortal explanation why do we really have it such way. |

Funny that you mention this - when I first started I was also pretty put off by the stats. They seemed to make no sense - with such big numbers you aren't really sure what's going on. |

I have no idea why the stat system originally chosen was the d100 method as opposed to the standard d+d 3d6 method. I really don't see how it's any more or less informative. Alot of the methods and formulas chosen seem to have been done on purpose so players would not know exactly how things are figured out.
That being said, is what you are looking for something similiar to Mume? You know of course that Mume stats are not what they appear to be either. You don't really have for instance 16 str, but some modifier of, like 16.4 or 16.2. Same goes for all the other calculated stats and even prac %s. That's why sometimes with ob for example you can have 100% in a skill and not gain an ob, while other times you will. No offense, but if what offended your friends about WARP was the stat system, I doubt the rest of the game would have appealed to them much either. This is not Mume, and while we don't go out out of our way not to be Mume, we don't try to be like them either. FYI, our system isn't all that uncommon either, many classic rpgs such as Top Secret and the Middle Earth Role Playing (MERP) use d100. Correct me if I am wrong, but so does the Warhammer FRP. |

WFRP used a wierd system for stats. What you rolled depended on your race (a dwarf rolled 2d10+30 for ws and d2+2 for M) absolute maximum where 10 for some stats and 100 for other. Your 'proffesion' and experience also modified your stats. Will be interesting to see if they keep that system when wfrp v2 is released.

If this warp was anything like mume I wouldnt play it so dont even try that talk :P, I have stated my idea before to atleast put 2 separate way to display stats.
1. current d100 2. d100/10+10, which will give nice 12-18 stats with possibly one decimal place |

weird stat system? you need to go play other games, a 100d stat system has been around for 25+ years. lets see....Ringworld uses it, Traveller uses it, Star Frontier (sp) used it....and for a short time Battle Driods ( the really old game that became Battle Tech after they got sued over name used it for player char......to be honest, D and D was the ONLY game for YEARS that used something besides the 100d for stats. |
