I have a few ideas for weaponskills:
First of all, I think it's a bit static that all a weaponskills does is increase the ob when using the weapon by up to 20%. I think ob, pb and speed should be affected by the prowess, then it would also perhaps take more levels and pracs to master a weaponclass. This would perhaps be more realistic, as teqnique gives more than just ob i reckon. However, should speed of a master be increased more than max speed today and then be much lowered for novices? I'm not really sure if this idea would make the game more fun, however i do think weapon skill should matter a lot. What I mean is that I essentially think that the skill at using a weapon should be more important than the weapon it self.
Second idea: regarding dual wield, I think the dual wield skills should affect more than only ob of secondary weapon. I reckon when fighting with two weapons, this gives should give more of a parry bonus than just that which is given by the second weapon. Having done some fencing IRL I have noticed that it is a large advantage to have two weapons both defensively and offensively. On suggestion is that max dual wield should not only give +20 ob on secondary weapon, but also +10 pb total.
Third idea: Regarding staves, I reckon that there should be a large advantage when wielding staves two handed. More than other two-handed weapons, a staff wielded two handedly gives a lot more options since it can be held in many ways using different techniques. Mostly, the speed of the attacks should be affected. My suggestion is that when wielding a staff two-handed, you get a +10 pb modifier and twice the one-handed attack speed. I do not think this would be overpowered as long as staves are relatively low damage weapons. Maybe staves could be even slower in that case since it's a pretty clumsy weapon when wielded one-handed. |
