I usually got a 1.5mbits/s leased-line to work (->internet). But on some firmware update, one of my two SDSL-modems died, so I did not have any link for some days. Now I finally managed to get some internet access through two old Zyxel U1496E modems, which supply the brutal bandwidth of 16800 kbit/s! (as a reference, a normal ISDN line does 64000kbit/s).
It is really fine for some instand messanging and for a MUD it is decent too as long as you are in 'brief' mode. But web-site surfing totally blows.
Just wanted to whine some :) Incredibly lucky, I was able to get hold of one of above SDSL modems on eBay (they are from 1997). So I am anxious for it to arrive! *twiddle* |
