CHARACTER GENERATION [INFO] Type: World, Character Description: Every Player Character on Warp is created through a generation process. This generation determines name, sex, race, class and abilities of your character. This help-file will go through the character creation process one step at a time. A character is created using the command: create , in your account. If you do not already have an account, log in to warpmud.org 4000 and type: NEW at the first prompt. Within the account there are several commands available. To begin character creation type: create . This name must follow the guidlines and rules found under: RULES NAMES. Mostly, using common sense and perhaps finding a name suitable for a fantasy world should be sufficient. Also, there can be only one character with each name, so if someone else already have made a character with the name you want, then you will have to find a different name. Upon typing create with a valid name, you will be prompted if this name is the name you want or not. If it is, press Y, else press N and start over. The next prompt asks for your sex. Keep in mind that this is the sex of the CHARACTER and not yourself (you could for instance try to roleplay a character of the opposite sex). Press M for male and F for female to decide the sex of your character. The next steps are really important. They will decide the race and class of your character. First, you will be prompted to select side of war. Currently we have three sides to the war: Free People, Greenskins and Skavens (See HELP WAR and HELP RACES). Having decided what kind of character you want to play (refer to the various RACE and CLASS helpfiles) you enter the number next to the side of the war you belong to. Select your side of war: 1. Free people 2. Greenskins 3. Skavens After that, you select the class (and race) you wish to play. The list of classes available will differ according to what side of the war you chose. At the moment all classes belong to one specific race only, so the class choice will be your racial choice as well. Enter the number next to the class you want your character to be. The next step is to determine your abilities (or stats). At the moment, the best way to do this is through spending adjustment points, and adjusting a base set of stats. (Option 2) Please choose the way to determine abilities of your character. 1. Give me a good set of stats. 2. I'd like to spend adjustment points buying stats for my character. 3. I want to use the random way, also known as stathunting [disabled]. 4. Tell me more about these options. There is no way of telling what is a good stat for a character really, because this will vary with each players style of play, and what skills you want the character to have. For more information on each class and the abilities, refer to the appropriate help-files (HELP and HELP ). By choosing option 1 you will be given a predefined set of stats for your chosen class. Option 3 and 4 is currently unavailable, but they will be in a not too distant future. Option 2 will prompt you to adjust your stats, using 50 points. How much it will cost to raise an ability (or how many points you will gain from lowering one) varies from class to class. Also, all classes have a different basis for their stats. Adjust your abilities. Str:66 Con:56 Dex:46 Agi:52 Int:37 Spi:38 Wil:50 Apt:40 Per:46 [50 adjustment points left] Q(done),R(reset),H(help)> The example above is the base stats for a Black Orc Marauder. In general, the higher a base stat is - the less it will cost to raise it even more, and vice versa. To raise or lower a stat, simply type: Str . (Replace STR with the stat you want to change). If you have enough adjustment points left to raise the stat to given number, it will be set to the new number, and an appropriate amount of adjustment points will be removed. You can, however, gain more points by lowering some of the stats. Keep in mind, that all the abilities have an impact on your character in one or more ways. Also remember that these stats are meant to portray your characters physical and mental abilities, so if you are roleplaying a smart character he should have a high Intelligence. Typing Q exits and saves the character stats. You will then be asked to confirm the character creation. Typing N will exit the generation without saving anything and you will have to start over, while Y will confirm the generation and your character will be available for play (play ). At the moment you can always change the stats of your character, by using the command: reroll , in your account-menu. This will bring you back to the adjustment prompt again, where you can raise/lower or reset the character's stats. That's it. Go ahead and create a character, and begin adventuring!
