TAAL's GUIDE TO WORLD BUILDING ============================== PART 1A - APPRENTICESHIP ------------------------ The first part of building on WARP is the "Apprentice" level. In this level you learn to use the commands and it also shows the building supervisors your language and building skills and potential to some extent. In apprenticeship you will be assigned from four to six rooms that you are to design. These rooms should be desced fully and ready, as if they were to be in the game for real (They will most likely not be used however). In addition you must set things such as flags and sector. (See the ROOMS section of the GUIDE files as well as HELP /ROOM and subfiles) The commands you need to fulfill this all lie within the /room command. When you have finished doing these "test-rooms", a supervisor will go through them and proofread them. In doing so he or she will point out mistakes made, and in most cases an explanation as to why it is a mistake. (Spelling errors are not explained however). Typical building mistakes are made by not following the list of "building rules" found in HELP GUIDE ROOMS. Note: We use british english in the design of the world. This means that some words differ from american spelling. The reason for this is mainly consistency, plus that the Old World is set in a Europe-similar environment. Although there is no real deadline on finishing the test-rooms, it should not take more than one week for most people. If nothing is done in a few weeks we will consider the apprenticeship as failed. (A new apprenticeship might be sought out at a later time, but for each failure, there is higher demands on your work to be accepted.) After the design of the testrooms are done, the next step is the design of your first zone. (See Part 1B). To become an APPRENTICE, just ask the head designer, currently that is me, Taal. (Use either warpmail, or tell me directly when I'm online. Note that I live in Norway, so we might live in totally different time zones. I try to be online at different times to be available to americans and other people living far away.) NEXT: HELP GUIDE DESIGN
