Wood Elves, Elf [INFO] Type: World, Race Description: The Elves originated from Ulthuan, and arrived in the Old World ages ago. They landed at the western coasts and penetrated deep into the land, into a great forest known by humans today as the Forest of Loren. Athel Loren, its elven name means 'The Wood of the Dawning of the World'. The Elves soon adopted to the forest life, living and roaming among the trees. Some of the Elves explored the lands further to the east, and settled in the forests of what is now the Empire. All the Elves that remained in the Old World relinquished the ties with the High Elves of Ulthuan and declared themselves independent. These isolated Elves evolved a society of their own, and became the Wood Elves. The Wood Elf culture was based on the Clans that first settled in the forest. These clans are ruled by the currently living wisest Elf, usually mages that are skilled at divination and illusionary magic to guide and protect the clan. The leaders of the various clans meat at the equinoxes and solstices to pray, discuss or feast. Wood Elves are almost identical in physical appearance to their kindred, the High Elves. Tall, agile, lithe and graceful, as well as intelligent, intuitive and quick witted. They have strangely beautiful faces with brightly coloured eyes, often in a shade of violet. Many have blond or silvery grey hair which shimmers like threads of silver or gold, while others have raven black hair with an intense bluish sheen. In general, Wood Elves have a pale complexion, possibly because of being in the shadows of the forest for a long time. Wood Elves are extremely skilled craftsmen, but often need to trade with people from outside of their forest to supplement their raw materials. They are especially good at woodcrafts, but their metalsmithing is quite decent as well, especially the softer metals like gold or copper. The Elves have developed an intuition and reverence for nature, and are thus very perceptive of the subtle changes pervading the woods. The Wood Elves of Loren are experts with the long bow, and their bows are fashioned from laminated strips of wood. It takes a long time to earn the trust or respect of a Wood Elf, and any betrayal will provoke certain revenge. Elf heroes in the world of Warp can prosper as expert woodsmen of various sorts, or skilled wizards or even as the elite warriors known as wardancers.
