2004/12/06, 04:17, Sharmak:
Oops!

2004/12/06, 04:37, Lubzar:
See, that should teach you not to target the goblins.

2004/12/06, 08:59, Tzeentch:
Humm how did you cast those chokes sharmak? I guess quick? Humm weird speed. Unengaged I can only cast 4 chokes in a bash. Seems strange you can cast 6 in a bash even if its quick ones. Maybe we need to tweak something here ;)

2004/12/06, 09:08, Tzeentch:
Or was there actually 2 orcs? Uhm. I guess.

2004/12/06, 09:11, Tzeentch:
Then my question is instead, did you have this:

Sacred Warding [spell]

Type : Utility [Protective, Mental]
Target : Self
Elements : Spirit, Air
Classes : Wardancer[15], Ranger[15], Druid[10], Wizard[7]
Rogue[15], Soldier[10], Cleric[1]
Mana Cost: 35
Syntax : Cast 'sacred warding'

Description:
Raises a protective ward around the casters mind. The strength of this
ward largely depends on the strength of the casters will. The more determined
he or she is, the stronger the ward.

2004/12/06, 09:20, Tzeentch:
Also there's this handy thing called 'wimpy' that we recommend people to use, it's particulary handy to get you out of, for example, bashes ;=)

2004/12/06, 09:41, Urugar:
Yes, that must have been two orcs not one...

2004/12/06, 12:28, Gabriel:
2 orcs were lei and sharmak. If Lei was using chokes with any efficiency, then there's something wrong here. He also had a wimpy of 80 hps that never kicked in. Also, why would sacred warding help with the number of chokes that entered?

2004/12/06, 18:30, Morr:
Observe Lei bashing and sharmak spelling not engaged.
And I bet these were memorized chockes lasting like 10 pulses.
Note how the 1st spell lands after bash and the spam spells afterwards.
Perhaps Sharmak tells us if he had the spells memorized or so.
Also note that the spells damage increases if the victim is already affected by choke (help files).
Note that the spell is spiritual and therefore should be absorbed by mental armour, this is what Tze was talking about.

The spell will be *definately* revised, at least I agreed with Sigmar that we should do it from coding point of view.

If you feel memorized spells are too powerfull or shamans should not do that please see the ideas topic.

2004/12/06, 19:22, Ares:
You seriously think choke is the only spell that kills like that? Tyan woulda died in 1 bash same way either to Grey Seer Distort or Spiritualist Soul burn or if had been evil to banishment too probably, no wizard spell woulda killed him in 1 bash though.

2004/12/06, 21:23, Tzeentch:
Why would sacred warding help? Uhm, because it absorbs damage from mental attack spells, and choke is a mental attack spell.

If tyan did indeed have a wimpy set, then I find it strange that he does not try to flee. Could tyan confirm this?

And choke - it does not kill fast compared to other spells. Me and gabriel tested this some yesterday and all of the 'bigger' spells do more damage in the same period of time.

I see alot of good side casters who ignore mental protection. They wear armour, they cast bark skin/have aura of faith - then ignore sacred warding. Why I wonder? Choke, Soul burn, Shatter bones, Distort - they are mental attack spells! You're not protected by your bark skin or your metal. For PK against skaven/orc/goblin casters, sacred warding is critical to have.

2004/12/06, 23:20, Taal:
if Sac-Ward is critical, then I really pity those who desire to play dwarf. (perhaps dwarves should have an innate resistance to mind-affecting magic such as they do in most fantasy rpgs? don't think they do this already at least.. :P )

at any rate, being able to unleash all memorized chokes in ONE bash-delay is sick anyway.

Ravesh stares at *a Goblin* and utters the words, 'slcandus'.
Ravesh raises his hands and calls up a blazing pyre.
Blazing flames scorch you!

You've got damaged by pyre as well, right ?

2004/12/10, 02:22, Ravesh:
I have tested - pyre auxillary damage is about 5 hit points. Pretty safe to say it is negligible here.

2004/12/12, 14:32, Ralph:
Wohaa! We got this subject here again. I wonder how many times has choke already been 'tweaked' since it's original speed... ;)

Anyway, this still reminds me of the unforgetable incident when a lvl20 plaque monk (Filk) went from full to dead in one bash when a lvl16 marauder (Ironfist) bashed him and a lvl21 shaman (Brolg) nuked. I believe Rogon already 'tweaked' the spell after I told him that... now you're tweaking it again? doh! :p
